Kopanica Wood is one of the great private gardens of Tasmania. Originally settled in the late 1800’s the property was established as a special garden by an aristocratic European family who bought the property in the 1950’s. Their extensive planting of trees formed the basis of the woodland garden of Kopanica.

Clemantis In 1978 Kopanica was purchased by Hugh and Maggie Ross who devoted the next 28 years to expanding and developing Kopanica into the magnificent English style garden that exists today. Their painstaking work in collecting and planting rare and unusual plants, shrubs and trees is reflected in this grand garden.

Kopanica Wood covers 5 acres of garden set within a 100 acre working farm at the foot of the Great Western Tiers, Extensive pathways lead to a variety of vista and experience such as The Moss Walk, The Croquet Lawn. The Rose Garden, The Tasmanian Garden and the herbaceous beds that sweep down from the homestead.
